Recent Calls - Bennington Police Log

APRIL 2010

POLICE HANDLED THE FOLLOWING CALLS FOR SERVICE:


April 1st

ANIMAL: Police responded to a North Bennington Road residence for a report of a dog biting another dog.

ANIMAL: Police received a report of a person being bitten by a dog. She went to the hospital for treatment.

ANIMAL: Police received a report of a sick looking fox on North Bennington Road. Police did not find the fox.

JUVENILE: Police spoke to a juvenile regarding being disruptive at home. No further action was necessary.


April 2nd

E911: Police responded to the Monadnock Paper Mill for an Emergency 911 call. No problems were found.

MUTUAL AID: Police assisted the Peterborough Police with a robbery incident.

ARREST: Police arrested Scott Champagne, 39, of Bennington on a civil warrant for child support. He was transported to Hillsborough Police Department where a Merrimack Sheriff released Champagne on $50 cash bail.

TRESPASS: Police received a report of criminal trespass at a North Bennington Road property.

ANIMAL: Police picked up a stray dog on Main Street and took it to Spring Meadows Farm.

CIVIL: Police received a report involving property. It was over a tenant moving out and claiming the landlord would not give him his property. It was determined to be a civil matter.


April 3rd

ARREST: Police arrested Kevin Desmarais, 17, of Francestown charging him with Illegal Possession of Alcohol and Illegal Transportation of Alcohol. He was released on $500 personal recognizance bail pending a May 13th court date in Henniker District Court. A 16-year old passenger was taken into Protective Custody.


April 4th

ANIMAL: Police received a report of an injured fox on North Bennington Road.


April 5th

DOMESTIC: Police responded to a State Route 202 residence for a report of trespassing. Investigation revealed more of a domestic issue involving trespassing and threatening. The incident is due to relationship issues.

INVESTIGATE: Police received a report of a dispute on Francestown Road. It was determined to be an ongoing issue between neighbors.


April 6th

ANIMAL: Police picked up two stray dogs off Merrill Drive and transported them to Spring Meadows Farm.


April 7th

MUTUAL AID: Police assisted the Bennington Fire Department with a call for service on Gillis Hill Road involving tree on wires.

MUTUAL AID: Police assisted the Bennington Fire Department with a call for service at the Crotched Mountain Ski Area involving an illegal burn.


April 8th

MUTUAL AID: Police assisted the Antrim Police Department in executing a search warrant.


April 9th

ARREST: After making a motor vehicle stop for expired plate police arrested Dyland Adams, 23, of Sharon charging him with Driving after Suspension. He was released on a summons pending a May 13th court date in Henniker District Court.

ARREST: Police arrested Shawn Mooney, 22, of Bennington on a warrant from Hillsborough Police charging him with Simple Assault. He was released on $1000 personal recognizance bail pending a May 27th court date in Henniker District Court.

ARREST: Police arrested Rachael Plamondon, 29, of Bennington on a warrant from Hillsborough charging her with Simple Assault. She was released on $1000 personal recognizance bail pending a May 27th court date in Henniker District Court.

INVESTIGATE: Police received a report of loud noise on Durgin Road. Nothing was found.


April 10th

ARREST: Police arrested Donovan Foster, 21, of Bennington on a warrant from Hillsborough Police charging him with Simple Assault. He was released on $1000 personal recognizance bail pending a May 27th court date in Henniker District Court.

MUTUAL AID: Police assisted Hancock Police with two underage drinking parties.


April 11th

MUTUAL AID: Police assisted the Bennington Rescue Department with a medical call on Dodge Road.

INVESTIGATE: Police received a report of a tow truck dragging a vehicle down the roadway. Police did not locate the tow truck.


April 12th

CRIMINAL MISCHIEF: Police took a report of mischief from Rymes Heating. Investigation revealed a trailer with a dumpster on it was pushed back off a pad causing the dumpster to come off the trailer.

THEFT: Police took a report of a theft involving a flag being taken from the flag pole at Pierce Elementary School.

MUTUAL AID: Police assisted the Bennington Rescue Department with a medical call on Pierce Hill Road.

HARASSMENT: Police took a report of harassment which was occurring between landlord and ex-tenant.


April 13th

CIVIL: Police received a report regarding child custody issues. It was determined to be a civil issue.

ARREST: After stopping a motor vehicle police took the driver into Protective Custody for intoxication. It did not rise to the level of Driving While Intoxicated.


April 14th

ANIMAL: Police received a report of numerous stray cats on South Bennington Road. The individual was advised to contact the Humane Society for assistance.

CIVIL: Police mediated a dispute between sisters. It was a civil issue; however, no further action was necessary at the time.

JUVENILE: Police took a report of possible child abuse/neglect. Investigation continues.


April 15th

MUTUAL AID: Police assisted the Antrim Police by checking the welfare of children reportedly close to the road way unsupervised. Investigation revealed they were being watched by the parents.

CRIMINAL TRESPASS: Police took a report from a North Bennington Road resident regarding his ex-wife trespassing into his house.


April 16th

E911: Police received a report of an Emergency 911 call from a local business. It was found to be accidental.


April 17th

ANIMAL: Police spoke to a Cross Street resident regarding the leash law.

ALARM: Police responded to a Bible Hill Road residence for an alarm activation. A door was found open; however, nothing else was found to be out of place.

INVESTIGATE: Police received a report of shots being fired on Birch Glen Drive. Police did not find the source of the shooting.


April 18th

MUTUAL AID: Police assisted the Bennington Fire Department on North Bennington Road with an illegal burn call for service.

THEFT: Police took a theft report involving the stealing of a catalytic convertor.


April 19th

JUVENILES: Police responded to a residence on North Bennington Road for a report of juveniles shooting. Investigation revealed that there was target practice; however, there was adult supervision.

ALARM: Police received a report of an alarm at a town department. It was determined to have been accidental.

INVESTIGATION: Police received a report of suspicious people on the railroad by Antrim Road. Investigation revealed four individuals basically hanging out. One individual was intoxicated. He was allowed to leave with a person who had not been drinking.


April 20th

HARASSMENT: Police took a report involving harassing text messages. Police spoke to both individuals. They agreed not to text each other.

MOTOR VEHICLE ACCIDENT: Police assisted the State Police with a motor vehicle accident on State Route 202. The accident involved a vehicle and a deer.

ANIMAL: Police received a report of two stray dogs on State Route 202. Police did not find the dogs.


April 21st

TRESPASSING: Police took a report of trespassing at the town Transfer Station. The report involved someone going to the transfer station during non-operational hours.

E911: Police received an Emergency 911 call from a Pine Meadow residence. Investigation revealed it was a child who was attempting to call his father who is in the military stationed overseas.

ANIMAL: Police received a report of a dog running at large on North Bennington Road. The animal was not located.


April 22nd

THEFT: Police took a report of a theft of a catalytic convertor from an Onset Road residence.

ANIMAL: Police picked up a stray dog on School Street and returned it to its owner.

INVESTIGATE: Police began investigating a report regarding Indecent Exposure and Lewdness.


April 23rd

THEFT: Police took a report of the theft of a camera from a trail located on a North Bennington Road residence.

PROTECTIVE CUSTODY: Police took Benjamin Reynolds, 20, of Peterborough into Protective Custody for underage drinking.


April 24th

PROTECTIVE CUSTODY: Police took a 47 year old male from Hillsborough into Protective Custody for safety concerns. He was transported to the Monadnock Community Hospital.

ARREST: Police arrested Dennis Vergato, 56, of Bennington charging him with Indecent Exposure and Lewdness. He was released on $1000 personal recognizance bail pending a June 17th court date in Henniker District Court.

PROTECTIVE CUSTODY: Police took a 23 year old male from Bennington into Protective Custody for safety concerns. He was transported to the Monadnock Community Hospital.

ARREST: Police arrested Zachariah Balon, 18 of Manchester. He was charged with Illegal Possession of a Controlled Drug, Illegal Transportation of a Controlled Drug, Driving After Suspension and a Bench Warrant for Illegal Possession of A Controlled Drug. He posted $350 cash bail on the warrant and was released on $2500 personal recognizance bail on the remaining charges pending a June 17th court date in Henniker District Court.


April 25th

MISSING PERSON: Police received a report of a missing person from a Pine Meadows residence. During the investigation the person returned home.

INVESTIGATE: Police began investigating a report of Criminal Threatening.

MUTUAL AID: Police assisted the Antrim Police in looking for a motorcycle which was involved in a high speed pursuit.


April 26th

ASSAULT: Police received a report from a Durgin Road resident reporting that he was assaulted by his neighbor. Investigation continues.


April 27th

THEFT: Police began investigating a motor vehicle theft.


April 28th

MUTUAL AID: Police assisted the Antrim Ambulance with a medical call on State Route 202.

MUTUAL AID: Police assisted the Greenfield Police with a bench warrant arrest.


April 29th

INVESTIGATE: Police received a report of a truck pulling down some wires. It was found to be telephone wires. No issues with traffic. Phone Company contacted to repair the wires.


April 30th

MUTUAL AID: Police assisted the Bennington Fire Department with a smoke investigation on Hancock Road.

SUSPICIOUS VEHICLE: Police received a report of a suspicious vehicle at the Crotched Mountain Ski Area. Did not find anything wrong; however, advised the driver to move on.

ARREST: After making a motor vehicle stop for speed police arrested Carrie Landers, 22, of Bennington charging her with Driving after Suspension and having a Suspended Registration. She was released on $500 personal recognizance bail pending a June 17th court date in Henniker District Court.

MOTOR VEHICLE ACCIDENT: Police responded to Gillis Hill Road for a motor vehicle accident. Investigation revealed that Michael Shatney, 18, of Antrim lost control of his vehicle causing it to roll over. Investigation continues.
