Recent Calls - Bennington Police Log

October 1st

CRIMINAL TRESPASS: Police received a report of an incident involving a library patron being disorderly and causing issues at the library. Investigation continues regarding trespassing issues.

CIVIL: Police got involved in a dispute over ownership of a horse. The issue was determined to be civil.

CIVIL STANDBY: Police were requested to do a civil standby at a Dodge Hill Road residence while property was picked up.

ANIMAL: Police received a report of a white dog being spray painted black. Police have a suspect; however, investigation continues.


October 3rd

MOTOR VEHICLE ACCIDENT: Police received information regarding a motor vehicle accident at the intersection of Antrim Road and State Route 202. Both vehicles were moved prior to police investigating accident. There was very minor damage to one vehicle. Operator accident reports provided to driver.

MUTUAL AID: Police assisted the Bennington Rescue Department with a medical call on State Route 202.

CIVIL: Police received a report involving issues between a married couple who live on Birch Road.

ANIMAL: Police received a report of a stray dog on Main Street. They were unable to locate the animal.


October 4th

CRIMINAL TRESPASS: Police took a report of a past trespass incident from a Durgin Road resident.

MOTOR VEHICLE ACCIDENT: Police responded to Main Street for a report of a motor vehicle accident. Investigation revealed very minor damage and no injuries.


October 5th

CHECK WELFARE: Police were requested to check the welfare of a Dodge Road resident. He was found to be doing fine.

OHRV: Police received a report of an Off Road Recreational Vehicle speeding on the state trail on North Bennington Road. Police were unable to locate the vehicle.

MOTOR VEHICLE ACCIDENT: Police received a report of a two vehicle accident on State Route 202. However, when police arrived they found that both vehicles departed the scene.


October 6th

ASSAULT: At 03:30 police responded to a report of a female being assaulted by a male on Main Street. Investigation revealed a female was assaulted and sustained serious injuries. Investigation continues.

ANIMAL: Police took a report of a dog killing chickens at a Durgin Road resident. Police knows the owner of the dog. Investigation continues.

ANIMAL: Police took a report of a stray dog on private property on Pine Meadows Circle. The owner was contacted and spoke to about dog ordinances.


October 7th

JUVENILE: Police responded to a vacant house on Bible Hill Road regarding juveniles entering the property. The juveniles were spoken to regarding trespassing.


October 8th

MOTOR VEHICLE ACCIDENT: At 9:00 a.m. police took a report from an Acre Street resident regarding her vehicle being damaged sometime over the weekend. Damage was done to the right front quarter panel. An operator accident report was provided to the owner.

ALARM: Police responded to an alarm at a local business. It was discovered to have been set off by maintenance workers.

ANIMAL: Police received a report of missing cats from Starrett Road.


October 9th

ANIMAL: Police received a report of a stray dog on Main Street. The dog was caught and transported to the animal shelter.


October 10th

ARREST: At 2:24 p.m. police arrested Samantha Arsenault, 20, of Bennington charging her with Criminal Liability for the Conduct of Another. She was released on $1000 personal recognizance bail pending a December 10 th court date in Hillsborough District Court.

ANIMAL: Police received a report that a transfer station attendant caught a bird. It was discovered to be a missing from Antrim. The owner was contacted and picked up the bird.

MUTUAL AID: Police assisted the Bennington Rescue Department with a medical call involving an injured juvenile on Main Street.


October 12th

CIVIL: Police were requested to do a civil standby at an Onset Road residence. The request was made due to an ongoing neighbor dispute over the use of land.

ARREST: At 12:30 p.m. police arrested Walter Feeley, 18, of Washington charging him with Criminal Liability for the Conduct of Another. He was released on $1000 personal recognizance bail pending a December 10 th court date in Hillsborough District Court.


October 13th

ANIMAL: Police responded to Pine Meadows for a report of a barking dog. Police spoke to the owner.

ANIMAL: Police received a report of a stray dog on South Bennington Road. It was taken to the animal shelter.

INVESTIGATION: Police received a report from a North Bennington Road resident stating someone was shooting on private property. Police did not find anyone.


October 14th

INVESTIGATE: Police received a report from a North Bennington regarding shots being fired on or close to his property. Police did not find the source of the shooting.

SUSPICIOUS VEHICLE: Police investigated a report of a suspicious vehicle at Crotched Mountain Ski Area. No problems were found.


October 15th

ARREST: At 10:30 am. Police arrested Christina Emond, 20, of Antrim charging her with Issuing Bad Checks, seven of them. She was released on $700 personal recognizance bail pending a December 10 th court date in Hillsborough District Court.


October 16th

THEFT: Police received a report of a theft involving a cable box. Investigation revealed it is an issue with a couple who recently separated. The cable box was retrieved and will be returned.

ARREST: Police arrested Chris Voorhees, of Bennington on a civil warrant. He was released on cash bail.

ARREST: At 7:20 p.m. police arrested Aben Whiteley, 21, of Antrim charging him with 2 nd degree assault. He was given a $5000 cash bail. Because he could not make bail he was transported to Hillsborough House of Corrections pending an arraignment. During the arraignment he was released on $5000 personal recognizance bail pending further court dates.


October 18 th

MUTUAL AID: Police assisted the Bennington Rescue Department in looking for an individual who reported might have overdosed on prescription medications. He was not located; however, later discovered he was doing fine.


October 19th

ARREST: At 3:45 p.m. police arrested Angela St. John, 39, of Hancock on a bench warrant for Failure to Appear. She was released on $500 cash bail. Since this was a Peterborough case she was released pending a November 1 st court date in Jaffrey/Peterborough District Court.

MUTUAL AID: Police assisted the Antrim Police with a motor vehicle accident at the T-Bird Convenience Store on State Route 202.


October 20th

ANIMAL: Police received a report of a stray dog on Bible Hill Road. The dog was returned home and the owner spoken to.

INVESTIGATION: Police received a report from a North Bennington Road resident stating someone was shooting close to his house. Police did not find anything or anyone.


October 21st

ARREST: At 6:45 p.m. police arrested Theresa Kimball, 41, of Bennington charging her with Driving While Intoxicated. She was released on $1000 personal recognizance bail pending a December 10th court date in Hillsborough District Court.


October 22nd

CIVIL: Police mediated a dispute between husband and wife whom live on Birch Road.

ANIMAL: Police received a report of a dog constantly barking at a Bible Hill Road resident.


October 23 rd

BAD CHECK: Police received a bounced check from Harris’ Mini Mart. Investigation continues in attempting to locate the person passing the bad check.

MUTUAL AID: Police assisted the Bennington Fire Department on State Route 202 for a report of a gas odor.

MUTUAL AID: Police assisted the Francestown Police with an incident involving an out-of-control person.

MUTUAL AID: Police assisted the Deering Police Department with a road rage incident.


October 24th

DOMESTIC/ARREST: Police responded to a Birch Glen Drive residence for a report of a domestic disturbance. Police arrested Susan Taylor of Bennington charging her with Simple Assault.


October 25th

MUTUAL AID: Police assisted the Greenfield Police with a motor vehicle accident on Crotched Mountain Road.


October 26th

MOTOR VEHICLE ACCIDENT: Police responded to a motor vehicle accident on Greenfield Road. Investigation revealed that the driver lost control of her vehicle causing it to roll over. The driver received serious injuries. The passenger received minor injuries. Alcohol was a factor.

UNWANTED PERSON: Police responded to the Our Town Country Store for a report of an unwanted person. Investigation revealed that someone asked to borrow the phone. After a lengthy period of time and the person not getting off the phone, the police were contacted. Upon arrival of the police she was advised to hang up the phone which she did and then advised to leave the store which she did under protest.


October 28th

ANIMAL: Police removed a dog from a South Bennington Road residence due to lack of care. It was taken to a shelter.


October 29th

INVESTIGATION: Police received a report stating that a man was acting strange at a local business. Reportedly he was crawling around on the floor, bothering customers, kicking dirt and curbing. He was gone upon arrival of the police. He was not able to be located.

CIVIL: Police received a report of a dispute between husband and wife. This is an ongoing issue between a Birch Road husband and wife.

ALARM: Police received a report of an equipment alarm at a local gas business. It was determined to have been accidental.


October 30th

ANIMAL: Police had a stray dog delivered to the police station. The owner of the dog was contacted and picked up his dog.

ARREST: Police arrested Angela St John, of Hancock, on a warrant for failure to appear in court. Because she could not post the requested cash bail she was transported to the Hillsborough House of Corrections. She was arraigned on October 31st where her cash bail was changed to personal recognizance pending a future court date.


October 31st

INVESTIGATION: Police found residence where gun shots were heard. Police spoke to the residents whom agreed to stop the shooting.
