Recent Calls - Bennington Police Log

NOVEMBER 2009

POLICE HANDLED THE FOLLOWING CALLS FOR SERVICE:


November 1st

CHECK WELFARE: Police were requested to assist in looking for a motorist to do a check the welfare.


November 2nd

CIVIL: Police mediated a civil issue involving a landlord/tenant dispute. The dispute was over rent which was due.

SUSPICIOUS VEHICLE: Police investigated a suspicious vehicle at Sawyer Field. There were no problems.

MUTUAL AID: Police assisted the Antrim Police Department in looking for a juvenile who ran away from the Girls Shelter.


November 3rd

JUVENILE: Police received a report of a missing juvenile from an Antrim Road residence. Investigation revealed he decided to leave early to visit a friend. He was found at school.

HARASSMENT: Police took a report of harassment involving mother and daughter and unwanted phone calls and text messages.

SUSPICIOUS PERSON: Police received a report of a suspicious person on Cross Street. No one was located.


November 4th

HARASSMENT: Police took a report of harassment from a Francestown Road resident involving harassment from her neighbor. She reported that the neighbor is attempting to contact her and knocks on her window and she does not want any contact with her.

ARREST: Police arrested Cynthia French, 52, of Francestown charging her with Issuing Bad Checks. She was released on $500 personal recognizance bail pending a December 10th court date in Henniker District Court.


November 5th

NOISE: Police received a noise complaint from an Onset Road resident. Investigation revealed a neighbor lit off some fireworks. He was done by time police arrived. No further action was necessary.

HARASSMENT: Police took a report of harassment from neighbors on Francestown Road.

MUTUAL AID: Police assisted the Hancock Police with a call involving a disabled vehicle on State Route 202.


November 6th

HARASSMENT: Police took a report from a Birch Drive resident reporting harassment from another individual. Investigation revealed that it was two teenage girls who are no longer friends and have been sending unwanted text messages to each other.

THEFT: Police took a report of theft involving pills being taken from a vehicle.

TRESPASSING: Police took a report of a Francestown Road resident trespassing into a vehicle of a neighbor without permission.

MUTUAL AID: Police assisted the Hancock Police with a call for service involving taking someone into Protective Custody.

MUTUAL AID: Police assisted the Antrim Police with the arrest of two females.


November 7th

MUTUAL AID: Police assisted the Antrim Police with an assault case. The subject was found in Bennington.

MUTUAL AID: Police assisted the Bennington Fire Department with fire alarm activation at the Paper Mill.


November 8th

ARREST: After making a motor vehicle stop police arrested Gary Webber, 51, of Antrim charging him with Driving While Intoxicated. He was released on $1000 personal recognizance bail pending a January 14th court date in Henniker District Court.

TRESPASS: Police took a report of a Francestown Road resident trespassing onto her neighbor’s property.


November 9th

MUTUAL AID: Police assisted the Antrim Police with a motor vehicle stop on State Route 202.

MUTUAL AID: Police assisted the Hancock Police with a motor vehicle accident on State Route 202.


November 10th

MUTUAL AID: Police assisted the Antrim Police with a call for service involving a check the welfare.


November 11th

CIVIL: Police investigated a report involving a neighbor dispute. It was determined to be a civil issue.

CIVIL: Police were requested to check the welfare of a resident due to marriage issues. She was found to be doing fine.

CITIZEN ASSIST: Police were requested to assist a motorist who locked her keys in her vehicle.


November 12th

TRESPASS: Police took a report of trespassing involving a North Bennington Road resident. This is an ongoing issue between neighbors.


November 13th

ARREST: After making a motor vehicle stop police arrested Lisa Chalke, 37, of Hancock charging her with second offense Driving While Intoxicated. She was released on $1000 personal recognizance bail pending a January 14th court date in Henniker District Court.


November 14th

ANIMAL: Police received a report of loose cows on Francestown Road. The owner was contacted.

CHECK WELFARE: Police were requested to check the welfare of a Mountain Road resident. Check revealed he was not at home.

INVESTIGATE: Police were requested to investigate to report of a party at the Southface Condos. Nothing wrong was found.


November 15th

MUTUAL AID: Police assisted the Antrim Police with a Motor Vehicle Stop on Main Street.


November 16th

ANIMAL: Police received a report of a loose dog on Onset Road. The owner was located.


November 17th

THEFT: Police took a report of Sidewalk Handicap Plates from a construction site.


November 18th

MUTUAL AID: Police assisted the Francestown Police with a call involving a threat of overdose.

THEFT: Police received a report of money being stolen from the VFW.

PROPERTY CHECK: Police received a report of an open door at a local business. A property check did not indicate any problems; therefore, the door was secured.


November 19th

INVESTIGATE: Police received a report of a man urinating by someone’s residence. He was gone by time police arrived.

ARREST: Police arrested Scott Baker, 48, of Antrim charging him with Driving While Intoxicated. He was released on $1000 personal recognizance bail pending a January 14th court date in Henniker District Court.


November 20th

E911: Police received an Emergency 911 call from a local business. No problems were found.

ARREST: After making a motor vehicle stop police arrested Colin Progen, 22, of Leominster, MA charging him with Illegal Possession of a control drug believe to be marijuana. He was released on $1000 personal recognizance bail pending a January 14th court date in Henniker District Court.

ARREST: Police arrested a juvenile charging him with Illegal Possession of a Control Drug believed to be marijuana. He was released pending a court date. Another juvenile was taken into Protective Custody and released to a parent.


November 21st

MUTUAL AID: Police assisted the Francestown Police with a Threatening call involving a person with a knife.

MUTUAL AID: Police assisted the Antrim Police with a call involving an unruly female juvenile

MUTUAL AID: Police assisted the Hancock Police with a call involving a possible underage party.


November 23rd

BURGLARY: Police took a report of a burglary which occurred at a State Route 202 residence.

ANIMAL: Police spoke to an owner on Acre Street regarding his dog running at large.

MOTOR VEHICLE ACCIDENT: Police responded to State Route 202 for a motor vehicle accident. Investigation revealed a vehicle struck a deer. There were no injuries, the truck sustained minor damage and the deer did not survive.


November 24th

MUTUAL AID: Police assisted the Bennington Rescue Department with a medical call on Main Street.


November 25th

MUTUAL AID: Police assisted the Antrim Police with a motor vehicle complaint.


November 26th

ARREST: After making a motor vehicle stop police arrested Matthew Fitzgerald, 32, of Hampton charging him with Driving While Intoxicated and Illegal Possession of a Controlled Drug believed to be marijuana. He was released on $1500 personal recognizance bail pending a January 14th court date in Henniker District Court.


November 27th

INVESTIGATE: Police began investigating a report regarding underage drinking at a Francestown Road residence.

ALARM: Police responded to an alarm at the Town Office. It was accidentally caused by a cleaning employee.

ARREST: After making a motor vehicle stop police arrested Brandon Hoxie, 29, of Westminister, MA charging him with Driving After Suspension and Illegal Possession of Alcohol (open container). He was released on $750 personal recognizance bail pending a January 14th court date in Henniker District Court.

ARREST: Police arrested Chad Erali, 28, of Ethol MA charging him with an Open Container violation. He was released on $500 personal recognizance bail pending a January 14th court date in Henniker District Court.

MOTOR VEHICLE ACCIDENT: Police responded to a report of a motor vehicle accident on Francestown Road. Investigation revealed that Amber Bailey, 18, of Bennington backed her vehicle into a parked vehicle. Both vehicles sustained minor damage. A report was taken.


November 28th

MUTUAL AID: Police assisted the Antrim Police with an alarm at the town offices elevator.

E911: Police responded to an Emergency 911 report involving a missing woman. She was found shortly after receiving the call.


November 29th

DOMESTIC: Police responded to State Route 202 for a report of a domestic disturbance. It was determined to be verbal.

CRIMINAL MISCHIEF: Police responded to a Bible Hill Road residence for a report of Criminal Mischief involving broken vehicle windows.

INVESTIGATE: Police received a report from a North Bennington Road residence regarding Off Road Vehicles being on private property.
