Recent Calls - Bennington Police Log

January 2009

POLICE HANDLED THE FOLLOWING CALLS FOR SERVICE:

January 1st

ARREST: Police took Jacob Lafontaine, 19, of Milford into Protective Custody for intoxication. He was charged with Unlawful Possession of Alcohol. He was given a $500 personal recognizance bail pending a February 12th court date in Henniker District Court.

PROTECTIVE CUSTODY: Police took a juvenile into Protective Custody for intoxication. She was released to a parent.

ARREST: Police arrested Rachael Plamondon, 28, of Bennington on a bench warrant for failure to appear in court. She was released on $500 personal recognizance bail with a January 15th court date in Henniker District Court.

ARREST: Police made a motor vehicle stop and subsequently arrested Benjamin Millership, 39, of Gilsum. He was charged with Driving After Suspension and Fugitive from Justice. He was transported to Hillsborough County House of Corrections. On Friday, January 2nd, he was arraigned in Manchester District Court. He waved extradition on the fugitive charge and is being held without bail pending the State of Alabama picking him up.


January 2nd

MUTUAL AID: Police assisted the Bennington Fire Department with a house fire on South Bennington Road.

NOISE COMPLAINT: Police responded to a Main Street residence for a loud noise complaint. After speaking to the tenant the music was turned down.

ARREST: Police charged Brett Farres, 18, of Francestown with Contempt of Court charge for failure to pay restitution. He was released on a summons pending a February 12th court date in Henniker District Court.

ARREST: Police charged Katherine Hrubiec, 17, of Auburn with Illegal Possession of a Tobacco Product and Misuse of Power for doing doughnuts with her vehicle. She was released on summons pending a February 12th court date in Hennniker District Court.

MUTUAL AID: Police assisted Antrim Ambulance with five medical calls at the ski area.


January 3rd

MOTOR VEHICLE ACCIDENT: Police took a report of a motor vehicle accident on North Bennington Road. One operator lost control and drifted into oncoming lane striking a second vehicle.

MUTUAL AID: Police assisted the Antrim Ambulance with a medical call at the ski area.

MUTUAL AID: Police assisted the Francestown Police Department with a motor vehicle accident on Campbell Hill Road.


January 4th

MUTUAL AID: Police assisted the Antrim Ambulance with a medical call at the ski area.

THEFT: Police took a report of a theft of a snowboard from the ski area.


January 5th

THEFT: Police took a report of a theft of a snowboard from Crotched Mountain Ski Area.


January 6th

MUTUAL AID: Police assisted the Antrim Ambulance with a medical call at the ski area.

INVESTIGATE: Police received a report of a suspicious vehicle on North Bennington Road.

THEFT: Police received a report of theft involving taking of sand from the town sand pit.

CIVIL: Police did a civil standby due to request from Town Welfare Officer.


January 7th

MUTUAL AID: Police assisted the Bennington Rescue Department with a medical call on Dodge Hill Road.


January 8th

DISPUTE: Police responded to a Mountain Road residence for a dispute over the resident putting snow in the roadway.

CIVIL: Police assistance was requested from a man stating he was homeless. He was referred to the proper agency.


January 9th

THEFT: Police took a report of theft from a Pine Meadows residence. The theft involved taking of items from a vehicle.

ARREST: Police arrested John Sereno III, 59, of Bennington charging him with Driving While Intoxicated. He was released on $1000 personal recognizance bail pending a February 12th court date in Henniker District Court.

E911: Police responded to an Emergency 911 call at a Francestown Road business. No problems were found.


January 10th

CRIMINAL MISCHIEF: Police received a report of a window being smashed at the ski area. It appears that someone hit the door window with a fist.

MUTUAL AID: Police assisted the Bennington Fire Department at a Eaton Avenue residence. The call for service was due to a brush fire.

CITIZEN ASSIST: Police assisted a motorist who locked her keys in her vehicle.


January 11th

CRIMINAL TRESPASS: Police took a report from a North Bennington Road resident reporting trespassing by snowmobilers. Investigation continues.

DOMESTIC DISTURBANCE: Police responded to a Francestown Road residence for a report of a domestic disturbance. Investigation revealed a verbal argument. One part left the residence. Police cleared without further action being required.


January 12th

HARASSMENT: Police took a report of harassment from a Durgin Road resident. Investigation continues.

BAD CHECK: Police received two bad checks from the Bennington Country Store. Investigation continues.


January 13th

CRIMINAL MISCHIEF: Police took seven reports of vandalism involving damage to mailboxes. Police are working with two other towns that had mailboxes damaged the same evening.

BAD CHECKS: Police received four more bad checks which were pasted at a local business. Investigation continues on getting the checks cleared.

CITIZEN ASSIST: Police assisted a motorist in unlocking her vehicle.


January 14th

MOTOR VEHICLE ACCIDENT: Police responded to Harris Mini Mart for a report of a minor accident. Investigation revealed a customer backed into a vehicle pulling into the parking lot. One vehicle sustained minor damage.

MOTORIST ASSIST: Police assisted a motorist at the ski area due to her locking her keys in her vehicle.


January 15th

ARREST: Police arrested Jason Gates, 25, of Hillsborough on a warrant for witness tampering from Concord Police. He was released to the Concord Police.

JUVENILE: Police took a report from DCYF of possible child abuse. At this point investigation continues.

MOTOR VEHICLE ACCIDENT: Police responded to a report of a motor vehicle accident on State Route 202. Investigation revealed a driver lost control and drove off the roadway. Due to the snow, she had to be towed back onto the road.


January 16th

ARREST: Police arrested Derek Deschenes, 21, of Washington on two warrants. One was for Simple Assault out of Hillsborough and the other was for failure to appear for a shoplifting charge out of Concord. He was released on personal recognizance bail for the Hillsborough Charge and transported to Hillsborough County House of Corrections pending court on January 20 th on the Concord charge.

CRIMINAL MISCHIEF: Police took a report of criminal mischief from a Balch Farm Road resident reporting damage to her vehicle.

CIVIL: Police assisted a person in opening lockers at the ski area due to an ongoing dispute. The property was retrieved without incident.

MUTUAL AID: Police assisted the Bennington Fire Department with a call for service at the Monadnock Paper Mills.


January 17th

E911: Police responded to Onset Road for an Emergency 911 call. It was found to have been accidental.

BAD CHECK: Police took a report of a bad check being pasted from a town department. Investigation continues.

CIVIL: Police began working a landlord/tenant dispute on Francestown Road. This is an ongoing issue. This report involved: no propane, plowing and trespassing.


January 18th

ACCIDENT: Police responded to a report of a motor vehicle accident at the Crotched Mountain Ski Area. One vehicle was attempting to park when his vehicle slid into another vehicle. Damage was minor.

DOMESTIC: Police responded to a Francestown Road residence for a report of a domestic disturbance. It was found to have been verbal. No further action was necessary from the police.

TRESPASS: Police took a report from a Francestown Road resident stating someone trespassed onto his property.


January 19th

ARREST: Police arrested Brian Baggaley of Pierce Hill Road charging him with Issuing Bad Checks. He was released pending a March 12th court date in Henniker District Court.

E911: Police responded to the Ski Area for an Emergency 911 call. Investigation revealed was playing and made the call from the elevator.


January 20th

ARREST: Police arrested Denise Robidoux of Antrim Road charging her with Issuing Bad Checks. She was released pending March 12th court date in Henniker District Court.


January 21st

MUTUAL AID: Police assisted the Antrim Ambulance with a medical call at the ski area.


January 23rd

MUTUAL AID: Police assisted the Antrim Fire Department with a chimney fire call for service on State Route 202.

MUTUAL AID: Police assisted the Greenfield Police Department with a motor vehicle accident on Sawmill Road.


January 24th

MUTUAL AID: Police assisted the Bennington Rescue Department with a medical call on State Route 202.

MUTUAL AID: Police assisted the Antrim Ambulance with a medical call at the ski area.

MOTOR VEHICLE ACCIDENT: Police responded to State Route 202 for a report of a motor vehicle accident involving a car and a deer.

INVESTIGATE: Police received a report of loud music at the ski area. It was turned down.


January 25th

MUTUAL AID: Police assisted the Antrim Ambulance with a medical call at the ski area.

CIVIL: Police were requested to check the welfare of a North Bennington Road resident. Everything was ok.


January 27th

MUTUAL AID: Police assisted the Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Department in serving an eviction notice to a State Route 202 resident.

JUVENILE: Police looked for a missing juvenile who reported got off the school bus but did not go home. She was located at a relative’s residence.

E911: Police received a report of an Emergency 911 call at the Paper Mill. No problems were found.

Investigate: Police received a report of loud music from the ski area. It was turned down – again.


January 28th

THEFT: Police took a report of a theft of a snowboard from Crotched Mountain Ski Area.


January 29th

ARREST: Police arrested Roman Zyck of Bennington charging him with Issuing Bad Checks. He was released on personal recognizance bail pending a March 12th court date in Henniker District Court.

CIVIL: Police did a civil standby on Pierce Hill Road while personal belongings were picked up.

INVESTIGATE: Police received a report of someone receiving threatening text messages. Investigation continues.


January 30th

Investigate: Police started an investigation involving a suspicious check. Investigation continues.

MUTUAL AID: Police assisted the Bennington Rescue Department with a medical call on Durgin Road.


January 31st

INVESTIGATE: Suspicious Vehicle on Old Stagecoach Road. Investigation revealed illegal dumping; however, vehicle was gone when police arrived.
