MARCH 2010
POLICE HANDLED THE FOLLOWING CALLS FOR SERVICE:
March 1st
INVESTIGATE: Police received a report regarding the manner of operation (reckless driving) on State Route 202. Police were unable to locate the vehicle.
ANIMAL: Police received a report of an injured/sick cat. Police advised the homeowner that they would be responsible for the animal.
ANIMAL: Police spoke to a Bible Hill Road resident regarding her dogs running at large.
ANIMAL: Police received a report of a deceased cat on South Bennington Road. The cat was removed.
March 2nd
ANIMAL: Police received a report of two missing dogs from a Paradise Drive residence. The dogs were found.
ARREST: Police arrested Taylor Dunton, 18, of Antrim, charging him with Illegal Possession of Alcohol. He was released on a summons pending a May 13th court date in Henniker District Court.
March 3rd
CRIMINAL MISCHIEF: Police received a report of mischief at the Pierce Elementary School playground area. Investigation revealed some tables were flipped over; however, there was no damage.
ARREST: Police arrested Jason Byam, 32, of Bennington on a civil warrant for failure to pay child support. Bail Commissioner Brenda Wesoly was contacted. Byam was able to post the $1000 cash bail.
DOMESTIC/ARRESTS: Police responded to a report of a domestic incident on Starrett Road. Investigation resulted in both parties being charged with Simple Assault – Domestic Violence Related. Heidi Holland, 37, of Stoddard and Kurt Furlong, 37, of Marlborough were released on $1000 personal recognizance bail pending an April 8th court date in Henniker District Court.
March 4th
ARREST: Police arrested Taylor Dunton, 18, of Antrim charging him with Criminal Mischief for breaking a window at a local business. He was released on $1000 personal recognizance bail pending a May 13th court date in Henniker District Court.
ARREST: After making a motor vehicle stop police arrested Shane Overka, 24, of Lyndenborough charging him with Driving after Suspension. He was released by Bail Commissioner John French on $750 personal recognizance bail pending an April 8th court date in Henniker District Court.
MUTUAL AID: Police assisted the Antrim Ambulance with a medical call at the Crotched Mountain Ski Area.
March 5th
CIVIL: Police conducted a civil standby at a Starrett Road residence while personal belongings were picked up.
ARREST: Police arrested Andrew Parker, 23, of Bennington charging him with Prohibitive Sales, Receiving Stolen Property and two counts of Possession of an Illegal Drug believed to be marijuana. He was released on $5000 personal recognizance by Bail Commissioner John French pending an April 8th court date in Henniker District Court.
March 6th
MUTUAL AID: Police assisted the Antrim Ambulance with medical calls at the Crotched Mountain Ski Area.
DOMESTIC: Police responded to a Paradise Drive residence for a report of a domestic violence incident. Investigation resulted in Joshua Poff, 26, of Manchester being charged with Simple Assault and Obstructing Report of a Crime. He was released on $1000 personal recognizance bail pending an April 8 th court date in Henniker District Court.
March 7th
MUTUAL AID: Police assisted the Antrim Ambulance with a medical call at Crotched Mountain Ski Area.
MUTUAL AID: Police assisted the Antrim Police with a despondent person.
March 8th
ARREST: Police arrested Sara Estes, 20, of Bennington on a Bench Warrant. The warrant was for failure to appear in court. She was released on $1000 personal recognizance bail pending an April 8th court date in Henniker District court.
ARREST: Police arrested James Champagne of Acre Street on a civil warrant.
ANIMAL: Police received a report of a missing dog from a Francestown Road residence. It was located and returned to the owner.
CRIMINAL THREATENING: Police received a report of threatening. Investigation revealed that it was between two people involving a past relationship.
March 9th
CIVIL: Police investigated a report of trespassing on private property located on North Bennington Road. It was determined to be a dispute between brothers.
ARREST: Police arrested Joshua Poff, 26 years old, charging him with Criminal Trespassing and Criminal Threatening.
March 10th
MUTUAL AID: Police assisted the Bennington Rescue Department with a medical call on Main Street.
CIVIL: Police were requested to check the welfare of a Francestown Road resident. She was found to be doing fine.
DOMESTIC: Police responded to a domestic disturbance at a Francestown Road residence. It was determined to be verbal.
March 11th
ANIMAL: Police pick up a stray dog at the Crotched Mountain Ski Area. The owner was located and reunited with her dog.
JUVENILE: Police located a missing juvenile who left home without permission.
SCAM: Police received a report of an attempted scam.
TRESPASSING: Police investigated a report of criminal trespassing. Investigation revealed it was a neighbor dispute.
MUTUAL AID: Police assisted the Antrim Ambulance with a medical call at the Crotched Mountain Ski Area.
THEFT: Police took a report of a theft of credit card and jewelry from a residence.
March 12th
PROTECTIVE CUSTODY: Police took Joseph Devincintis into Protective Custody for intoxication. He was transported to the Hillsborough County House of Corrections.
March 13th
ARREST: After making a motor vehicle stop police arrested Scott Dunlap, 17, of Antrim charging him with Illegal Possession and Transportation of Alcohol and Illegal Possession and Transportation of an Illegal Drug believed to be marijuana. He was released on $1000 personal recognizance bail pending a May 13th court date in Henniker District Court.
E911: Police responded to the ski area for an Emergency 911 call. No problems were found.
March 14th
INVESTIGATE: Police received a report of shots fired on North Bennington Road. Police were unable to determine the source of the gun shots.
MUTUAL AID: Police assisted the Antrim Police at the scene of a fire on Clinton Road.
CIVIL: Police mediated a dispute involving child custody/visitation issues.
March 15th
MOTOR VEHICLE: Police received a report of a vehicle stuck in water on Bible Hill Road. Investigation revealed the driver attempted to drive through high water going over the roadway and stalled. Her vehicle was pushed out of the water. Because of this issue the road was closed down.
PROPERTY CHECK: Because of a light being on police did a property check of a residence on Bible Hill Road. Nothing wrong was found.
March 16th
SUSPICIOUS ACTIVITY: Police responded to Mountain Road for a report of suspicious activity. Nothing was found.
ANIMAL: A resident dropped off a stray dog to the police. The owner was contacted to pick up the dog.
March 18th
MUTUAL AID: Police assisted the Antrim Police with an arrest involving Driving While Intoxicated.
CIVIL: Police received a report from a Francestown Road resident regarding issues with her neighbor. This is an ongoing neighbor dispute.
E911: Police responded to a local business for an Emergency 911 call. It was determined to have been accidental.
March 19th
ARREST: Police arrested George Roberts, 58, of Jaffrey charging him with 2 nd offense Driving While Intoxicated. He was released on $1000 personal recognizance bail pending a May 13th court date in Henniker District Court. However; because he was unable to find anyone to pick him up he was transported to Hillsborough County House of Corrections.
ANIMAL: Police received a report of animal neglect/abuse from a North Bennington Road residence. The dog was checked out and found to be doing fine.
March 20th
ANIMAL: Police received a report of a dog constantly barking. The incident occurred on Pine Meadows Circle. Police spoke to the owner.
MUTUAL AID: Police assisted the Bennington Rescue Department with a medical call on Bible Hill Road.
ARREST: Police arrested Justin Hanson, 19, of Peterborough charging him with Illegal Possession of a Controlled Drug believed to be marijuana. He was released on $1000 personal recognizance bail pending a May 13th court date in Henniker District Court.
March 21st
JUVENILE: Police filed a juvenile complaint against a female juvenile for Hosting an Underage Party and Illegal Possession of Alcohol. Her case will be heard in juvenile court.
JUVENILE: Police filed a juvenile complaint against a male juvenile charging him with Criminal Mischief and Criminal Trespassing. His case will be heard in juvenile court.
MUTUAL AID: Police assisted the Hancock Police with a domestic violence call for service.
MUTUAL AID: Police assisted the Bennington Fire Department with an illegal burn on Bible Hill Road.
MOTOR VEHICLE ACCIDENT: Police investigated a motor vehicle accident on State Route 202. Investigation revealed the vehicle sustained minor damage after hitting a deer.
INVESTIGATION: Police received a report of erratic operation on State Route 202. Police did not locate the vehicle.
March 22nd
SCAM: Police received another report of an attempted scam.
INVESTIGATE: Police received a report of a possible prowler at a North Bennington Road residence. Police were advised that the person ran before police arrived. The person was not located.
OHRV: Police received a report of Off Highway Recreational Vehicles were operating on the roadway. Police did not find the OHRV’s.
March 23rd
CIVIL: Police received a report involving a dispute over a camper trailer. It was determined to be a civil matter.
DOMESTIC: Police responded to a domestic dispute. One person had to be transported to the hospital for evaluation.
ANIMAL: Police received a report of a stray dog on Merrill Drive. Police could not catch the dog.
March 24th
HARASSMENT: Police received a report of harassment which was occurring on MySpace.
ARREST: After responding to a domestic disturbance call police arrested Robert Podsadowski, 32, of Bennington charging him with Simple Assault. He was released on PR bail pending a court date.
INVESTIGATE: Police received a report of a neighbor dispute on Francestown Road.
ARREST: Police arrested Ronald Brown of Mont Vernon charging him with Illegal Possession of Alcohol. He was released on a summons pending a court date in Henniker District Court.
PROTECTIVE CUSTODY: Police took Vanessa Armstrong into Protective Custody for intoxication due to drugs/alcohol. She was transported to the Hillsborough County House of Corrections.
March 26th
THEFT: Police took a report of theft involving money being taken from a vehicle.
MUTUAL AID: Police assisted the Antrim Police with a despondent person.
ARREST: Police arrested Nicole Picknell, 26 years old, charging her with Driving After Suspension.
March 27th
PROTECTIVE CUSTODY: Police took Paul Metaras, 47, of New York into Protective Custody for intoxication. He was released to a friend.
March 28th
ARREST: Police arrested Joshua Haney, 28 years old, on a warrant for shoplifting.
MUTUAL AID: Police assisted the Bennington Fire Department with a brush fire on Greenfield Road.
MUTUAL AID: Police assisted the Bennington Rescue Department with a medical call on Knightland Road.
MUTUAL AID: Police assisted the Antrim Police in looking for a suicidal person.
ARREST: Police arrested Christopher Voorhees, 45, of Bennington charging him with a variety of drug charges. He was held in Hillsborough County House of Corrections pending a court date.
ARREST: Police arrested Brent Smith, 26, of Bennington charging him with a variety of drug charges to include sale of drugs – cocaine. He is being held in Hillsborough County House of Corrections pending a court date.
March 29th
ANIMAL: Police had a dog turned into them due to it running at large. Police located the owner and returned the dog.
ALARM: Police responded to an alarm at a local business. It was found to have been accidental.
ARREST: Police arrested Vanessa Armstrong charging her with Illegal Transportation of Alcohol and Resisting Detention. She was released on bail pending a court date.
CRIMINAL THREATENING: Police received a report from someone in Texas stating he was being threatened by a Bennington resident. Investigation revealed it was an ongoing dispute over child custody issues.
March 30th
MUTUAL AID: Police assisted the Bennington Rescue Department with a medical call on South Bennington Road.
March 31st
MUTUAL AID: Police assisted the Hancock Police with an Emergency 911 call on Bennington Road.
