Recent Calls - Bennington Police Log

APRIL 2009

POLICE HANDLED THE FOLLOWING CALLS FOR SERVICE:

April 1st

INVESTIGATE: Police found an unsecure door at a business on Main Street. Property was checked. No problems found.

MUTUAL AID: Police assisted the Bennington Fire Department with a chimney fire on Main Street.


April 2nd

MUTUAL AID: Police assisted the Bennington Rescue Department with a medical call on Old Greenfield Road.

ARREST: After making a motor vehicle stop on Francestown Road for speed police arrested Kenneth Cooper, 41, of Forestdale, MA charging him Driving While Intoxicated. He was released on $1000 personal recognizance bail pending a May 14th court date in Henniker District Court.


April 3rd

MUTUAL AID: Police assisted the Hancock Police Department with a motor vehicle pursuit.


April 4th

ARREST: Police charged a juvenile with Theft and Receiving Stolen Property. Juvenile petitions were filed with the Henniker District Court.

DOMESTIC: Police responded to Bible Hill Road for a report of a domestic incident. It was determined to have been verbal.

PROTECTIVE CUSTODY: Police took a pedestrian into Protective Custody for public intoxication. The individual was given a ride home.


April 6th

ARREST: Police charged three juveniles with Simple Assault and Disorderly Conduct. Juvenile petitions were filed with the Henniker District Court.

ARREST: Police requested assistance from Hillsborough Police in serving a summons for Criminal Trespassing to Erika Hensigner, 78, of Hillsborough. She was released on a summons pending a June 11th court date in Henniker District Court.

CRIMINAL THREATENING: Police received a report of Criminal Threatening. The subject is a resident of Main Street Bennington. Investigation continues.


April 7th

ARREST: Police charged a juvenile with Simple Assault. A juvenile petition will be filed with the Henniker District Court.

ARREST: Police took a juvenile into Protective Custody for being missing. He was taken into Protective Custody because he was uncooperative in accepting a ride home. He was turned over to his foster parent.


April 8th

BAD CHECK: Police received a bad check which was passed at Harris’ Mini Mart. Investigation continues.

THEFT: Police took a report involving a theft of a 4-wheeler. Police have leads on who took the OHRV; however, unable to locate him at this time. Investigation continues.

ARREST: Police arrested Pamela Voorhees, 46, of Bennington on a warrant from Antrim Police. She was released to the custody of the Antrim Police Department.


April 9th

CHECK WELFARE: Police were requested to check the welfare of a resident on North Bennington Road. He was found to be doing fine.

ALARM: Police responded to a residential alarm on Pinehurst Drive. It was accidental.


April 10th

ARREST: After making a motor vehicle stop police arrested Simon Norton, 17, of Peterborough charging him with Illegal Transportation and Illegal Possession of Alcohol. He was released on $1000 personal recognizance bail pending a May 14th court date in Henniker District Court. Two juvenile passengers were taken into Protective Custody and released to a parent.

DOMESTIC DISTURBANCE: Police responded to a domestic disturbance on Paradise Drive. Investigation revealed that two women received minor injuries due to a moving vehicle. Both women were transported to MCH; however, at this time no charges are pending.

SUSPICIOUS PERSON: Police received a report of a suspicious person on Greenfield Road. There were no problems.

ANIMAL: Police began investigating a report of neglected dogs at a North Bennington Road residence.


April 11th

PROTECTIVE CUSTODY: After making a motor vehicle stop on Francestown Road police took Walter Holt, 60, of Lyndenborough into Protective Custody for intoxication. He did not rise to the level of Driving While Intoxicated; however, due to alcohol consumption he was taken into protective custody and then released to a friend.


April 12th

JUVENILE: Police responded to Old Greenfield Road for a report of an out-of-control juvenile. Police mediated the dispute and clear without any further incident.

ROAD HAZARD: Police received a report of a tree blocking Bible Hill Road. The Town Road Agent was contacted who came on duty and cleared the tree from the road.

MUTUAL AID: Police assisted the Antrim Police Department with arrests on West Street.


April 13th

ARREST: Police arrested Niles LaPlant, 44, of Bennington on two warrants for failure to appear in court. He was on $1000 cash bail pending a May 14th court date in Henniker District Court.

ALARM: Police responded to a residential alarm on Pinehurst Drive. It was accidental.


April 14th

MUTUAL AID: Police assisted the Hancock Police with a hit and run accident.


April 15th

ALARM: Police responded to a local business for an alarm. No problems were found.

MUTUAL AID: Police assisted the Deering Police with a medical call.


April 16th

JUVENILE: Police received a report of juveniles breaking bottles in the roadway on South Bennington Road. They were gone when police arrived.

PROTECTIVE CUSTODY: Police took a motorist into Protective Custody for intoxication.


April 17th

PROTECTIVE CUSTODY: After receiving a call for an unwanted person police took a visitor to the residence into protective custody for intoxication.

SUMMONS: Police issued a summons for Driving Without a Valid License. The motorist is scheduled to appear in Henniker District Court.

INVESTIGATE: Police received a report of internet fraud. Investigation continues.

ANIMAL: Police mediated a dispute on Antrim Road. The dispute was over a dog going onto a neighbor’s property.


April 18th

DRUGS: During Earth Day cleanup police had a box turned in which contained drugs believed to be heroin.


April 19th

INVESTIGATE: Police had a person turn in unscratched lottery tickets which were found on Main Street. The tickets were found to have been stolen.

MISSING PERSON: Police received a report of a missing person. Investigation revealed that an individual stayed at another residence that evening.

ANIMAL: Police received a report of a stray dog on Gillis Hill Road.

MUTUAL AID: Police assisted the Antrim Police with a domestic incident.

MUTUAL AID: Police assisted the Antrim Police with an arrest involving a juvenile with alcohol and drugs.


April 20th

ANIMAL: Police received a report of a stray dog on Main Street.

INVESTIGATE: Police began an investigation involving vandalism to a door and theft of signs from a State Route 202 business.

MUTUAL AID: Police assisted the Bennington Rescue Department with a medical call at an Acre Street residence.


April 21st

FISH & GAME VIOLATION: Police found three individuals fishing prior to the official start date. Information was collected and turned over to the State Fish and Game official.

CRIMINAL THREATENING: Police received a report from a Census taker stating she was threatened. Police believe it was a misunderstanding. The situation was calmed down without further action being necessary.


April 25th

Off Road Vehicle: Police received a report of an OHRV on the State trail prior to the official opening of the trail. Police did not find the vehicle.

ANIMAL: Police received a report of possible neglect of horses on North Bennington Road. Investigation revealed the horses were doing fine.

MUTUAL AID: Police assisted the Antrim Police with the arrest of a juvenile for possession of alcohol.

MUTUAL AID: Police assisted the Antrim Police with a motor vehicle accident on State Route 9.

INVESTIGATION: Police received a report of loud noise from a residence on Francestown Road. Police ended up charging an individual with Disorderly Conduct.


April 26th

Off Road Vehicle: Police received another report of an OHRV on the State trail prior to the official opening of the trail. Police did not find the vehicle.


April 27th

MUTUAL AID: Police assisted the Bennington Fire Department with a call for service on Cross Street.

INVESTIGATION: Police investigated a report of a person taking and using a vehicle without permission.

MUTUAL AID: Police assisted the Antrim Police with a call for service involving shots fired.


April 28th

MUTUAL AID: Police assisted the Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Department in serving an eviction notice.


April 30th

SUSPICIOUS VEHICLE: Police received a report of a suspicious vehicle on Rogers Road.

BAD CHECK: Police received a bad check which was passed at a local business.

SUSPICIOUS PERSON: Police received a report of a suspicious person on Balch Farm Road. It is believed the person was a Census taker.

ARREST: Police arrested Dana Colburn of Bennington charging him with Unsworn Falsification. He is scheduled to appear in Henniker District Court on June 11th.
