MAY 2008

May 1st

SERVICE: Police serve a domestic violence order to a Birch Glenn Drive resident.


May 2nd

E911: Police responded to a local business for an Emergency 911 call.


May 4th

ARREST: Police arrested Pason Searles, 35, of Deering on two warrants for failure to pay fines. He posted cash bail on the charges; however, he was also scheduled to appear in Jaffrey/Peterborough District Court on May 29th.

MUTUAL AID: Police assisted Antrim Police with an intoxicated person.

THEFT: Police received a report of a theft from a Cross Street resident. Ongoing issue between boyfriend and girlfriend.


May 5th

CRIMINAL MISCHIEF: Police received a report of criminal mischief at Pierce Elementary School. Investigation revealed that tables and benches were turned over. There was no property damage; however, investigation continues.

SHOTS FIRED: Police received a report of shots being fired at a residence on North Bennington Road. Investigation revealed the home owner was practicing, being safe.

DISORDERLY CONDUCT: Police responded to the Birch Glen Drive condos for a report of disorderly conduct. Investigation revealed that a neighbor became upset due to noise being made by another neighbor’s child. The situation was quieted and calmed without further incident.

THEFT/ASSAULT: Police received a report stating that a Main Street resident assaulted a juvenile and attempted to take property which did not belong to him. Police have identified all persons. Investigation continues.

ARREST: Police arrested Crystal Avery, 24, of Bennington on a warrant for failure to appear in court to answer charges of Illegal Transportation of Alcohol. She was released on $1000 personal recognizance bail pending a June 16th court date in Henniker District Court.

THEFT: Police investigated a report of an attempted theft of money. Investigation revealed that a stop payment was put on a check. No money was taken. Based on the fact it was an agreement which was cancelled it was considered a civil matter.

MUTUAL AID: Police assisted the Antrim Police with an arrest on Greenfield Road.


May 6th

CIVIL: Police were requested by a Cross Street resident in getting some personal items returned. Police contacted the person reportedly having the property. She agreed to return the property.

CHECK WELFARE: Police were requested to check the welfare of a Switzer Road resident. The request was made due to the man’s dog pulling him and causing him to fall. The check was made and the man was found to be doing fine.

ARREST: Police arrested Jeffrey Bellen, 42, of Bennington on an arrest warrant from Antrim Police. He was turned over to the custody of Antrim Police.


May 8th

SHOOTING: Police received a report of shooting on Greenfield Road. Investigation revealed some shooters were practicing at the sandpit. They had permission to be at that location; therefore, there were no issues and everything was being done safely.


May 9th

NOISE: Police responded to the Mountain Side Condos for a noise complaint. A resident reported that neighbors kept slamming a door shut. All parties were spoken to. Everything was quieted down without further incident.


May 10th

ARREST: Police arrested Christopher Brissette, 33, of Bennington charging him with two counts of theft of a motor vehicle. He was given a $2500 cash bail. He was unable to post bail; therefore, was transported to Hillsborough County House. He is currently scheduled for arraignment at Henniker District Court on July 14 h.


May 11th

SIMPLE ASSAULT/CRIMINAL MISCHIEF: Police took a report from a North Bennington Road resident reporting that she was assaulted and damage was caused to her vehicle. The incident occurred at a South Bennington Road resident. Investigation revealed that she received minor injuries and her vehicle sustained minor damage. Investigation continues.

THEFT: Police took a report of theft involving the taking of a lawnmower, Eco Trimmer and an Eco Pole Saw from a Mountain Road resident. Investigation continues.

MUTUAL AID: Police assisted Antrim Police in looking for two missing juveniles.


May 13th

MUTUAL AID: Police assisted the Francestown Police with a motor vehicle accident on New Boston Road.

MUTUAL AID: Police assisted the State Police with a Domestic Disturbance call in Greenfield.


May 15th

SUSPICIOUS INCIDENT: Police investigated a suspicious incident involving a male adult approaching two female juveniles and showing them inappropriate items. Investigation continues.

UNWANTED PERSON: Police responded to a State Route 202 residence for a report of an unwanted person. The individual was contacted and advised to leave.


May 16th

SCAM: Police received another report of an attempted scam in which someone won some money but had to pay a fee and give out personal information in order to claim it. E-mails and phone calls went unanswered.

HARASSMENT: Police received a report involving a resident harassing another person by means of swerving in front of her an making inappropriate gestures.

HARASSMENT: Police received a report from a person temporarily staying in being of possible harassment by her husband.

BAD CHECK: Police received a report of a bad check being bounced at Harris’ Mini Mart.


May 17th

ARREST: Police arrested JAMES SPACK, 45, of Birch Road in Bennington charging him with theft and trespassing. The incident is the result of him trespassing onto private property and taking lawn and garden equipment. He was released on $5000 personal recognizance bail pending a July 14th court date in Henniker District Court.


May 18th

ANIMAL: Police received a report of two loose horses on North Bennington Road. The owner was located and rounded up the horses.

MUTUAL AID: Police assisted the Antrim Police with a felony motor vehicle stop on Main Street.


May 19th

THEFT: Police took a report from a South Bennington Road resident involving theft of well pipe. Investigation continues.

ARREST: Police arrested Ralph Sweet, 76, of Bennington charging him with Driving after Suspension. He was released on a summons pending a July 14th court date in Henniker District Court.

BURGLARY: Police responded to Pine Meadows Circle for a report of a burglary in process. Investigation revealed an 11 year old juvenile entered the unoccupied residence and took a magazine. He and his parents were spoken to. He was released to the custody of his father. Investigation continues.

THEFT: Police began investigating a report of a theft of a riding lawnmower. Police have a suspect. Investigation continues.


May 20th

CRIMINAL MISCHIEF: Police took a report of criminal mischief which was the result of someone throwing a beer bottle and striking a vehicle. Investigation continues.


May 21st

BAD CHECKS: Police received three bad checks which were passed at the Bennington Country Store. The individual was contacted and cleared the checks. No further action was necessary.


May 22nd

THEFT: Police took a report of theft involving the taking of gas and money from a Francestown Road residence. Investigation continues.

TRESPASSING: Police took a report of criminal trespassing from a North Bennington Road resident. This is an ongoing issue between family members.

MUTUAL AID: Police assisted the Bennington Rescue Department with a medical call on Rogers Road.


May 24th

ARREST: After stopping a motor vehicle for speed police arrested John Harriman of Hillsborough, charging him with Driving While Intoxicated. He was released on $1000 personal recognizance bail pending a July 14th court date in Henniker District Court, Hillsborough Session.


May 25th

DOMESTIC DISPUTE: Police responded to a Main Street residence for a report of a domestic disturbance. Investigation revealed a verbal argument between a father and son. The situation was calmed down without further action being necessary.


May 27th

HARASSMENT: Police received a report of harassment from a Dodge Hill Road resident. The harassment is ongoing issues with a neighbor. Police spoke to all concerned parties and calmed the situation for the moment.

SCAM: Police received another report of an attempted scam.


May 28th

E911: Police received a report of an Emergency 911 call from an Antrim Road business. Investigation revealed it was accidental.

CRIMINAL THREATENING: Police received a report of Criminal Threatening from a Gillis Hill Road resident. The incident was the result of a dispute between a father and son. Investigation continues.

ARREST: Police arrested Angela St John, 39, of Hancock charging her with driving after being classified as a Habitual Offender. She was released on $3000 personal recognizance bail pending a July 14th court date in Henniker District Court, Hillsborough Session.

ANIMAL: Police received a report of a stray dog on Main Street. The dog was transported to the animal shelter.

JUVENILE: Police responded to the school for a report of an out-of-control student.


May 29th

THEFT: Police received a report from a Greenfield Road resident regarding a theft. Investigation continues.

E911: Police received an Emergency 911 call from an Onset Road resident. Investigation revealed it was accidental.

MUTUAL AID: Police assisted the Antrim Police in looking for a run-a-way juvenile.

MOTORIST ASSIST: Police received a report of gravel in roadway making it hazardous to motorcyclists. The highway department was notified.

HARASSMENT: Police received a report of harassment which was filed against a North Bennington Road resident.


May 30th

THEFT: Police received a report of a theft involving a gun from a Starrett Road resident. Investigation continues.

THEFT: Police received a report of a theft involving household items from a residence on Acre Street. Investigation continues.

ANIMAL: Police received a call from a Pine Meadows Circle resident reporting a constantly barking dog.


May 31st

MUTUAL AID: Police assisted the Greenfield Police with a Domestic Disturbance call for service.
