JULY 2008
July 1st
E911: Police received an Emergency 911 call from a local business. It was determined to have been accidental.
July 2nd
CRIMINAL THREATENING: Police received a report of Criminal Threatening from a Main Street resident. Investigation revealed verbal domestic issues; however, the complaint regarding criminal threatening is still under investigation.
JUVENILE: Police responded to Antrim Road for a report of juveniles interfering with traffic. They were actually lying in the roadway. Police spoke to them and they will not be doing it again.
July 3rd
HARASSMENT: Police received a report of harassment from a Greenfield resident. He was reporting being harassed by his ex-wife who lives in Bennington. This is an ongoing issue; however, investigation continues.
CIVIL STANDBY: Police were requested to do a civil standby on Main Street while personal property was collected.
NOISE: Police received a noise complaint coming from Curtis Campground. There were no problems.
July 4th
ILLEGAL DUMPING: Police received a report of Illegal Dumping at the Mountain Side Condos. Investigation revealed there was no problem. The disposal of trash was actually being done by a tenant of the condos.
FIREWORKS: Police started received fireworks complaints. In all three were received. By time police got to each of them the fireworks celebrations were completed. No further action was taken.
ARREST: Ashley Broadley, 23, of Bennington was charged with Open Container Violation under a Town Ordinance. She was released on a summons.
MUTUAL AID: Police assisted the Hancock Police with a domestic disturbance call for service on Cavender Road.
SHOTS FIRED: Police investigated a report of shots fired on Francestown Road. They were unable to locate the source.
July 5th
SUSPICIOUS ITEM: Police responded to the Pierce Elementary School for a report of a suspicious item. It was reported to have the appearance of a bomb. With the assistance of the Bennington Fire Department the item was determined not to be a bomb although it had the appearance of a suspicious device. Investigation continues.
July 6th
NOISE: Police received a report of suspicious noise behind a residence on State Route 202. Police did not find anything.
July 9th
SUSPICIOUS PERSON: Police took a report of a suspicious person on Francestown Road. Police did not locate anyone; however, investigation continues.
July 10th
ARREST (SUMMONS): Police stopped a motor vehicle on Starrett Road. The vehicle was found to have an altered inspection sticker. Elaine Flanagan, 43, of Bennington was issued a summons and released.
ARREST: Police arrested Brittney Johnson, 20, of Antrim charging her with Driving After Suspension. She was released on $1000 personal recognizance bail pending an August 11th court date in Hillsborough District Court.
ARREST: Police arrested Jorge Arteaga, 20, of Keene charging him with Illegal Possession of Alcohol. He was released on $1000 personal recognizance bail pending an August 4th court date in Hillsborough District Court. Two other individuals with him were taken into Protective Custody. They were James Towne, 21, of Temple and Damian Dolan, 28, of Keene.
INVESTIGATION: Police began an investigation for a Conduct after an Accident incident which occurred on State Route 202.
July 11th
ARREST: Police arrested Ryan Schwarz, 17, of Hancock charging him with Conduct after an Accident due to him backing his vehicle into Harris’ Mini Mart and then departing the scene. He was released on $1000 personal recognizance bail pending an August 11th court date in Hillsborough District Court.
PROTECTIVE CUSTODY: Police took John Kazlauskas, 41, of Peterborough into Protective Custody for intoxication. He was released to a friend.
PROTECTIVE CUSTODY: Police took Niles Laplante, 44, of Bennington into Protective Custody for intoxication. He was released to a friend.
DOMESTIC: Police responded to an Onset Road residence for a report of a domestic incident. It was determined to have been verbal. Police cleared without further action being necessary.
E911: Police responded to an Emergency 911 call at a Main Street residence. It was determined to have been accidental.
DOMESTIC: Police responded to a residence on North Bennington Road for a report of a domestic incident. It was determined to have been verbal.
July 12th
ALARM: Police responded to a burglary alarm at a Pinehurst Drive residence. It was determined to have been a faulty alarm.
CIVIL: Police got involved in a custody issue. Since the individual was 18 years old it was determined to be a civil issue.
July 13th
CRIMINAL MISCHIEF: Police responded to the Highway Department for a report of criminal mischief. Investigation revealed someone shot up some town equipment with paintballs. There was no other damage. Investigation continues.
ARREST: Police arrested Harold Wilson Jr., 40, of Hancock charging him with Driving While Intoxicated. He was released on $1000 personal recognizance bail pending a September 8th court date in Hillsborough District Court.
July 16th
CIVIL: Police were requested to assist in a disagreement over logging operations. All parties were advised it was a civil matter.
MUTUAL AID: Police assisted the Antrim Police with a domestic disturbance call on Bryers Lane.
MUTUAL AID: Police assisted the Antrim Police with a noise complaint on Pleasant Street.
MUTUAL AID: Police assisted the Antrim Police with a call for service involving a suicidal person.
July 17th
INVESTIGATE: Police began an investigation involving juveniles illegally possessing alcohol.
July 18th
ALARM: Police investigated an alarm at a local business. It was accidental.
LITTERING: Police receive a complaint from a South Bennington Road resident reporting someone littering on her property.
July 20th
CIVIL: Police were requested to do a civil standby at a North Bennington Road residence while paperwork was served.
ARREST: Police arrested Jason Lagasse of Bennington charging him with Illegal Possession of Alcohol. He was released on personal recognizance bail pending a court date.
July 21st
ARREST: After an investigation police arrested Nicole Brissette of Deering charging her with a Suspended Registration violation. She was released on personal recognizance bail pending a court date.
ARREST: After an investigation police arrested Ryan Parent of Deering charging him with Illegal Transportation of Alcohol. He was released on personal recognizance bail pending a court date.
July 22nd
INVESTIGATE: Police received a report from a local hospital regarding a person being shot with a BB gun. Investigation resulted in believing it was accidental; however, investigation continues.
ARREST: After a motor vehicle stop police arrested Roxanne Holt charging her with a Suspended Registration violation. She was released on a summons pending a court date.
MUTUAL AID: Police assisted the Antrim Police with a domestic disturbance call on Main Street.
July 23rd
MUTUAL AID: Police assisted the Hancock Police with a suspicious vehicle call on Moose Brook Lane.
July 24th
CHECK WELFARE: Police were requested to check the welfare of a resident on Durgin Road. She was found to be doing fine.
July 25th
ANIMAL: Police received a complaint about an owner and his dog on Main Street. Police spoke to the dog owner about the dog control ordinances.
CIVIL: Police were requested to intervene in an issue involving child custody/visitation. Both parties were advised it was a civil matter for the courts.
July 26th
ANIMAL: Police received a report of a dog running at large on Francestown Road. Police did not find the dog.
ANIMAL: Police found a stray dog on Old Bennington Road. It was taken to the animal shelter.
ARREST: After a motor vehicle stop police arrested Kymberly Lambert charging her with Driving after Suspension. She was released on personal recognizance bail pending a court date.
July 27th
ANIMAL: Police received a report of stray dogs at the transfer station. They were picked up and taken to the animal shelter.
DOMESTIC DISTURBANCE: Police responded to Onset Road for a report a domestic disturbance. It was determined to have been verbal.
July 28th
INVESTIGATE: The police began investigating a bad check which was presented to Our Town Country Store.
ANIMAL: Police received another complaint regarding an owner not having proper control of his dog on Main Street.
ARREST: After a motor vehicle stop police arrested Wayne Woods, of Hancock, charging him with Driving After Suspension and having two active bench warrants. He was booked and released on the driving offense; however, turned over to the Sheriff’s Department for the warrants.
ARREST: Police arrested Pamela Stone of Hancock on a warrant for failure to appear in court. She was held in the county jail on a cash bail pending a court appearance.
July 30th
CIVIL: Police were requested to assist in a domestic violence order matter between two people. They were advised it was a civil matter which needed to be address in court.
MUTUAL AID: Police assisted the Bennington Rescue Department with a medical call involving a bicycle wreck which caused injuries to head and face.
INVESTIGATE: Police received a report involving allegations of someone selling another person’s vehicle without permission. Investigation continues.
July 31st
INVESTIGATE: Police began an investigation of harassment involving a resident making numerous unwanted phone calls.
